Women Artists Since 1900
An extension of Rae George’s research-led practice, this text interrogates the historic and contemporary socio-political struggles of female practitioners within the visual arts. Moving from early 20th-century barriers to modern systemic challenges, the book contextualises the gendered shifts in artistic recognition while directly citing historical influences—such as Henri Matisse’s structural liberation of colour—that inform George’s own expressive oil paintings.
An essential framework for understanding the weight of gender and history in today’s contemporary art world.
